Description
Facility Managers need to speak the language of business if they are to communicate the fiscal importance of facilities to executive management and thereby influence decision making. Both as an FM tool and as a general personal development need, the importance of understanding finance can not be overemphasised.
Elements of the 2 day programme include:
Introduction to Corporate Finance.
Participants master basic financial management tools, create financial management/analysis spreadsheet templates and then apply them to specific needs of the typical facility manager.
Financial Reporting and Asset Management.
Participants will master basic financial reporting, asset management, financial ratios and facilities metrics. The concepts of working capital, cash, cash flow and depreciation are discussed. Internal managerial reporting, with regard to costing techniques is outlined
Cost Control, Forecasting, and Budgeting.
Cost Control, Forecasting, and Budgeting are explained through practice exercises. Key concepts include, financial forecasting and its benefits and understanding the principles, practices, and applications of the operating budget.
The Capital Budget.
Candidates are introduced to the principles, practices, budget applications, and development of the capital budget. In so doing they will achieve an understanding of rate of return, marginal cost of capital, capital rationing, useful life, time value of money, compounding, discounting, time zero, the differential concept, and capital budget risks.
