The Real Estate Competency Course

Description

This course enables participants to understand real estate principles and practices. Key concepts include how to plan acquisitions, development and disposal processes; understand how to develop, implement and maintain the real estate master plan; evaluate and recommend actions on options and alternatives to the master plan; and evaluate and recommend actions on development decisions.


Understanding the Basics of Real Estate  The basics of real estate including extensive treatment of the time value of money. Highest and best use studies as well as tax, depreciation and law form elements of this unit.
Leasing, Purchasing, and Selling Real Estate, and the Art of Negotiation
Subject matter deals with all elements of the acquisition and / or purchase cycle, including due diligence, negotiation, agreements and contracts.
The Master Control Files and Support Services
 Participants will be able to identify the different types of real estate control files, contents of the files and create a one page lease brief for creating a file. Ancillary areas covered include insurance, tax, real estate inventories and performance tracking
Real Estate Master Planning
The learner will identify stakeholders, both internal and external that are involved in the real estate planning process, understand real estate performance measures and identify methods to determine changes in the market.
